On Saturday 12th June, on the Home-Start fore court was our lovely sunny plant sale. We enjoyed a steady flow of customers, Many thanks to Colin for coordinating the event and to Penny and Liz for their help on the day! Thank you also to Jackie who helped with advertising on the day and to Jo for access to the Methodist Church Tables.

Our low key plant sale raised £190.15 with an extra £84 from Penny and her own plant sales.

That’s a grand total of £274.15 to help Home-Start West Somerset Support families in need!

The vast majority of the plants were sold, any plants remaining was given to the Quay Lane plant stall run by Judith, where your purchases will also contribute to helping Home-Start West Somerset along with other local charities.

Not only we have we spent the last week celebrating the ongoing work, generosity and commitment of all our volunteers, in so many various capacities. We have also had the pleasure of welcoming are new cohort of home visiting volunteers, we are all really excited to get them started and matched with families around West Somerset who need a little bit of extra support right now.

Monday 21st December saw Home-Start West Somerset staff and volunteers at the Minehead Eye packing and distributing nearly 50 Christmas hampers to the families they support across West Somerset. The hampers included all that is needed for a Christmas lunch as well as lots of lovely extras and presents for the children. Families also received a food box from Alcombe Food Bank so a big thank you to them for these and their support throughout the year.

Home-Start West Somerset would like to say a big Thank you to Greenslade Taylor Hunt for their £1000 donation that helped enormously with the provision of hampers and also to the Somerset Community Foundation, Kingspan and Jane and Colin Chaplinson for their wonderful donations.
