Volunteer Preparation Course – April to June 2019

Venue: Methodist Church Room, The Avenue, Minehead, TA24 5AY
Time: 9.30am to 2.30pm
Refreshments: We will provide refreshments and lunch at each session.

If you have any special requirements regarding diet, access or anything else, please let us know in advance and we will do all we can to help.

Parking: There is usually some on-road parking space available nearby (Blenheim Road) and there is a pay and display car park (co-op supermarket) next door.

Introduction to the course and to Home-Start. Role of a Home-Start volunteer.

Week two: Wednesday 1st May
How Home-Start helps families. Getting started as a home visitor.

Week three: Wednesday 8th May
Being a volunteer. Values and attitudes.

Week four: Wednesday 15th May
Community resources

Week five: Wednesday 22nd May
Family life and supporting parents. Parents and their children.

Half-term break

Week six: Wednesday 5th June
Confidentiality. Child Protection/Safeguarding Children

Week seven: Wednesday 12th June
Listening. Saying goodbye. Bringing the course to a close


It is the expectation of Home-Start that preparation course participants will attend every session of the course. If however you have to miss a session due to unforeseen circumstances or a pre-booked event that you have discussed with one of the family Support Co-ordinators you will need to make contact with the office before the next session so we can catch you up with what you missed.
